I came up with the idea of a "Bulletin Board" in order to have a designated space where

I could post items either "short" or "long term." Such as pictures, music,

poems (mine or someone else's), make a comment, or pass on

some other information. Any "odds or ends"

which I might want to share.

GALWAY, IRELAND

KIRWAN

COAT OF ARMS

IN IRELAND

My family's ancestry was traced back to the 12th century. They settled in County Galway in western Ireland during the reign of Henry VI. They built two castles,

one burned down and the other remains to this day. One ancestor was called "Yellow Richard of the Sword" because he had fought 18 sword duels, and   defeated all of them. They say that "Yellow" referred to the fact that

he had blond hair. He went to England as a mercenary during a

war, and was awarded a medal by the king.

In Ireland they wrote songs

about his adventures.

Another ancestor in Ireland was famous for

being an excellent shot with a Longbow.

FLAGS OF THE FOURTEEN TRIBES OF GALWAY

KIRWAN

Galway is often referred to as the City of Tribes. This is in reference to the fourteen tribes of Galway or the fourteen merchant families who once dominated Galway between the mid-13th and late 19th century. These fourteen families had enormous influence in society in Galway and held huge political power and wealth.

The Kirwan tribe is the oldest of all the 14 Tribes of Galway, and the only proven 100% Irish Gaelic tribe too. They appear to have first settled in Galway during Henry VI’s time, although it’s very possible that they were already there long before just under a different variation of the name. They were one of the most respected of the Tribes given their long lineage and consistent success in all areas. Also, successfully tracing their ancestors all the way back to one of the original Gaels to inhabit Ireland, leader of the Celtic invasion, Milesius. With the Kirwan family being descended from his second son.

MILESIUS

The sixteenth century scholar, O'Flaherty, fixes the Milesian (Celtic) invasion of Ireland at about 1000 B.C. (the time of Solomon). It is proven that the Celts whenever they arrived, had, before the dawn of history, subjugated the Germanic tribes and established themselves in Central Europe. At about the date we have mentioned, a great Celtic wave, breaking westward over the Rhine, penetrated into England, Scotland, and Ireland.

"The Coming of the Milesians"

by Thomas Moore

They came from a land beyond the sea,

And now o'er the western main.

Set sail in their good ships, gallantly,

From the sunny lands of Spain.

"Oh, where's the isle we've seen in dreams,

Our destined home or grave?"

Thus sang they, as by the morning beams

They swept the Atlantic wave.

And lo, where afar o'er ocean shines

A sparkle of radiant green,

As though in that deep lay emerald mines

Whose light through the wave was seen.

"'Tis Inisfáil --- 'tis Inisfáil!"

Rings o'er the echoing sea;

While bending to heaven, the warriors hail

That home of the brave and free.

Then turned they unto the Eastern wave

Where now their Day-God's eye

A look of such sunny omen gave

As lighted up sea and sky.

No frown was seen through sky or sea,

Nor tear o'er leaf or sod,

When first on their Isle of Destiny

Our great forefathers trod.

CREGG CASTLE

Cregg Castle is a magical place built in 1648 by the Kirwan Family, one of the 14 tribes of Galway. It is set on 180 acres of pasture and beautiful woodlands.

KIRWAN FAMILY CASTLE

The performers of

"RIVERDANCE"

GALWAY, IRELAND

Our ancestral name Kirwan was mistakenly "Americanized" into Carawan during immigration by sometimes illiterate workers who spelled a

name the way it "sounded" to them. This was in many cases

influenced by the strong accent of the immigrant.

standard musical instruments. The new sounds are mixed in with his grand piano playing.

TULIP HARVEST

FASCINATING

VIDEO!

I still fondly remember one particular day when I was in the fourth grade. Our teacher took the class into the large dark cloak-room in order to show us some slides. When she started the slides I was in awe! As much as I love color...here

were whole fields of  the most gorgeous colors. Acres of tulips of every color of

the rainbow and more. I grew up with those images firmly planted in my mind.

I promised myself that one day I would see those fields for myself. A promise I

still intend to keep.                                                                    BILL CARAWAN

While cleaning out an old billfold, I found a few verses tucked away... scribbled over the course of a few years...just as they had come to thought. Verses hidden away to see if they would prove to be complete,

or just the first lines to an epic poem! The piece of paper was literally falling apart along the

fold creases, so it is good to have them on this web page. They are "sweet" thoughts!

"BALI HA'I"

Most people live on a lonely island

Lost in the middle of a foggy sea

Most people long for another island

One where they know they would like to be

Bali Ha'i may call you

Any night, any day

In your heart you'll hear it call you

Come away, come away

Bali Ha'i will whisper on the wind of the sea

Here am I, your special island

Come to me, come to me

Your own special hopes,

Your own special dreams

Loom on the hillside and shine in the Streams

If you try, you will find me

Where the sky meets the sea

Here am I your special island

Come to me, come to me

Bali Ha'i, Bali Ha'i, Bali Ha'i

Some day you'll see me

Floating in the sunshine

My head sticking out from a low flying Cloud

You'll hear me call you

Singing through the sunshine

Sweet and near as can be

Come to me, here am I

Come to me

Try, you'll find me

Where the sky meets the sea

Hear am I, your special island

Come to me, come to me

on a night of stars.

I will go out and lie

on whatever hill

is lonely, clear, and high

and watch the heavens fill

with jeweled or ghostly light

worlds that have gone out,

visions passed from sight

I will draw about

me winds that drift and whirl

out of the galaxy

or, like a veil of pearl,

float from tree to tree.

I will be large and small,

far away and near,

nothing, something, all,

looking up from here....

I will be somewhat lost,

I will be almost found.

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without

a man; for I will demand of thee,

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?

BILL CARAWAN

Purple as the royal color started with ancient monarchies. The color was difficult to produce, which made it expensive and available only to upper society. Rulers wore purple robes and used purple ink to sign their edicts. Some emperors penalized their citizens by death for wearing purple garments.     GOOGLE

what is its cost?

Markets of Universe,

World of dynasties,

Robes of deep lavender,

The cost of the purple,

Gold/jeweled treasure,

To rule thru centuries,

authority needs heirs.

Purple to the masses,

SCIENCE AND HEALTH

WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES

by MARY BAKER EDDY

 (PAGE 558; 10-16)

To mortal sense Science seems at first obscure, abstract, and dark; but a bright promise crowns its brow. When understood, it is Truth’s prism and praise. When you look it fairly in the face, you can heal by its means, and it has for you a light above the sun, for God “is the light thereof.”

It only needs the prism of divine Science, which scholastic theology has obscured, to divide the rays of truth and bring out the entire hues of God.
